Russian/Georgian composer Alex Ross-Iver has been steadily making a name for himself in the European electronic music scene. Working with the likes of Gisli Kristjansson and vocalist Eliza Newman, Ross-Iver’s sound is one which favours texture and atmosphere. Now the producer can claim another success with his 2011 single ‘4Room Song’ having been remixed by Yello’s founder Carlos Peron. Listen to the track below and get to know him better.
How did you get your initial start in music?
I have plaedy piano since I was 5 years old and begun writing at the age of 12. In 1998 I began producing and recording my own music which I released very early on. I intend to make these releases digitally available soon.
What would be your ultimate aim in the industry?
UK/US # 1 (Experimental and/or Pop) Hit…. OK?
How long have you been writing your own music?
Since I was a kid.. in school.
Who are your top three influences and why?
Beck, Bjork, David Bowie . Why ? You know why! I like experimental/creative Music/Artists.
Is there anything you would like people to know about your current release?
Pay attention to my ‘ 4room Song’ which has been remixed by Carlos Peron. Yello was/is one of my favourite bands ever. I love their experimental sound/style and I’m so happy I worked with Yello founder, Carlos Peron. Moby has stated that their music “belongs to the most Influential and Remarkable in Electronic Music” .
Where are you based and what’s your local scene like? Any favourite venues?
Eastern Europe … No specific favorite venues.
Who else can you recommend from your local scene for people to have a listen to?
Sorry I’m not interested in Local Music scene (I only pay attention to UK/US major artists) and I don’t really represent the “Local” Music scene, The only “local” Artist from my region you need to know/buy is Me.
