Music has played a big part of all of our lives from quite a young age, with
Johnny being in a choir, Lexi and Jonno actually played in a band at school
together and myself (Acie) has been in several bands but it wasn’t until we all
got together and formed Shattered Generation that we realised how serious
we were about making music our career.
2. What would be your ultimate aim in the industry?
Our ultimate aim is to make it as big as we can and play all over the world.
We want to show the world what we can do and give them a great experience
at the same time.
How long have you been writing your own music?
We have been writing music as a band for about 2 years. We are always
bringing different ideas to the table and are very consistent in writing songs.
Although we don’t release or play a lot of the songs, we always have them as
ideas or templates for further songs.
3. Who are your top three influences and why?
That’s a hard question as we all have different influences but the top three
that have probably had the most impact on the band would be Guns N’
Roses, Reckless Love & Motley Crue, however a lot of other bands have
inspired our songs such as Van Halen, Def Leppard, Poison, Aerosmith,
4. Is there anything you would like people to know about your current
I remember watching Jani Lane ( Warrant ) speaking about how he wrote
Cherry Pie and he was asked to write a song like Love In An Elevator (
Aerosmith ) and I thought we needed to do something like that, you know,
write a song similar to another so I asked Lexï to write a riff or demo track that
was a mix between Love In An Elevator & Cherry Pie and he came back with
that notable intro guitar riff and verse so we decided to work on it and the
more we worked on it, it became increasingly unlike those two tracks which I
suppose is a good thing haha.
The Lyrics are basically about rebellion and leaving your hometown.
5. Where are you based and what’s your local scene like? Any favourite
We are based in Nottingham. The local scene is very different from what we
are doing which makes it so hard for us to get noticed and taken seriously. If
you’re not a generic Indie band or anything with “Core” at the end you
struggle to get a look in. Its not that we don’t like some of this genre we do
but it does make things a lot more difficult for us as we are so different to it
although this does work in our favour sometimes as there are people out
there that do want to hear different styles, but its very hard work getting to
We have enjoyed playing in many venues but so far would probably say The
Doghouse in Carlton is probably our favourite up to now.
6. Who else can you recommend from your local scene for people to have
a listen to?
I would recommend a band called The Young –
They’re a great young indie band and are definitely worth checking out if you
are into that genre.
7. Give our readers a round up of where they can find you online and hear
more of your music.
You can catch us on our Facebook Page –
There are also a few more demos on the band page part of our Facebook
They can also hear 2 of our songs on Soundcloud that were recorded in
London’s Sensible Studio’s by multi platinum producer Dito Godwin from LA
and Grammy award winner Jon Moon
We are in the process of having a music video done to accompany our new
