The Truebelles – Interview

1. How did you get your initial start in music? We all come from different backgrounds yet have a lot in common with regards taste in music. Music can do that. We all started singing at a young age.

2. What would be your ultimate aim in the industry? There are alot of great songs & bands around although the tribal theatre of pop music seems less.  So we aim to create drama.

3. How long have you been writing your own music? Since 3am this morning. We all write and have been writing songs since we were rugrats.

4. Who are your top three influences and why? Kurt Cobain, Michael Jackson, Kate Bush.  We are probably not your typical kind of three part harmony singing group. Like Bananarama mashed up with the Slits. Bananarama-slits.

5. Is there anything you would like people to know about your current release? Its being released on 13th February. Its called “If Your Heart Is There”. Its a fun song about unplanned pregnancy.

6. Where are you based and what’s your local scene like? Any favourite venues? We are London based so there is a lot of urban music. The Inspiral lounge in Camden has some great dj’s and acoustic soul. Also the Cavendish Arms in Stockwell has live acts every night of the week.

7. Who else can you recommend from your local scene for people to have a listen to? XYM the rap artist on our current release is a find.

8. Give our readers a round up of where they can find you online and hear more of your music. www.thetruebelles.com
