Meet rock quartet Blonde Roses

How did you get your initial start in music?

I started The Wooden Wings with a friend I met at a summer program 10 years ago. We began playing acoustic gigs at local coffee shops and eventually decided it was time to add a band into the mix. From there, we grew and our lineup changed. It wasn’t until very recently that we changed our name to Blonde Roses.

What would be your ultimate aim in the industry?

We just really want to impact people with our music. I know that can sound kind of cliche and corny, but it’s true. If you can change someones life or outlook on life with your music, you’re successful. You’ve made a difference. That’s our ultimate aim.

How long have you been writing your own music?

I picked up an acoustic guitar and wrote my first song when I was 15 years old. About 7 years ago, I joined up with the guys to form a band. We’ve basically grown up playing music together, so it’s really special that we have the opportunity to continue writing and creating together.

Who are your top three influences and why?

Joni Mitchell because she’s an incredible lyricist, Gary Clark, Jr. because he’s an incredible guitarist and The Beatles because of obvious reasons.

Is there anything you would like people to know about your current release?

We just released our debut single and music video for ‘Bullet’, so everyone should totally go check it out. We are also releasing our EP early 2017!

Where are you based and what’s your local scene like? Any favourite venues?

We are based out of New Orleans, Louisiana, but also call Lafayette, Louisiana home. Some of our favourite venues are Gasa Gasa, One Eyed Jacks, Feed N Seed and Artmosphere.

Who else can you recommend from your local scene for people to have a listen to?

We have tons of favourites locally, but to name a few: Sweet Crude, Kristin Diable, Social Circle, and The Rayo Brothers.

Give our readers a round up of where they can find you online and hear more of your music.
