How did you get your initial start in music?
We’ve all been playing music for the better part of our lives and we fatefully met in Los Angeles. Jared (guitarist) and Mike (vocalist) met while attending school in Hollywood at the musicians institute. Max (drummer) found the band shortly after through an ex: band manager. Will (bassist) also graduated from the Musicians Institute and managed to find an ad that we posted at the school as well as online. It was not long after that we were Symmetry.
What would be your ultimate aim in the industry?
To make our mark on the music scene and have sustainable music careers for the rest of our lives.
How long have you been writing your own music?
We’ve always written our own music and we’re really proud of what we’ve accomplished together. Always trying to push the boundaries with our sound while still staying true ourselves. It wasn’t until recently that we tried working with a co-writer for our new song ‘Gotta Wake You Up’ and we were really happy with the end result. It’s always fun dreaming things up musically on your own but there’s something to be said about writing music with people you trust and respect as song writers too. It’s like having someone who is known for writing great songs, accompany you in the process and be a temporary member of the band. At the end of the day you try and end up with a great song. Why not invite more minds in to mix it up from time to time?
Who are your top three influences and why?
We love all the greats that helped shape the music we listen to now. We honestly are heavily influenced by the music of today, sounding new and fresh is important to us.
